[ Hey, it's Zuko...! He's sending this text still somewhat frenzied after waking up quite disoriented, but calmer now that he's spoken to all his friends from home at their home together here, but after he's settled down some, he wastes very little time reaching out to Aurora, feeling less in a dream now by evening time than the rest of the overly surreal day he's had. But now he's desperately hoping he doesn't get a notification saying this username no longer exists. He doesn't — and it draws a sigh of relief. But it's short-lived as now he has to wait for a response, and even if Aurora responds immediately, one second will still feel like forever. ]

[Aurora has not heard from the other in... a while, and admittedly, Aurora is the sort to think the best of people, not the worst. So she can only assume that Zuko merely had gotten busy and hadn't the time to call on her or meet with her, nothing more. Did she miss him, though?

[ Okay, so, in light of recent developments, Zuko has decided to step up his game very quickly, time to up the ante... Because he suddenly considers this a race and is an absolute fool who is powered by spite even in the face of love and friendships he holds precious. And instead of, y'know, using his words, cuz that ain't his game (which is really what he should be stepping up), he's opting as always for grand romantic gestures with little to no elaboration or context, relying on dramatic impact to speak for him... or at least open the door for further discussion, because presentation counts for a lot, right? This guy...

Aurora will find a beautiful amaryllis flower arrangement on her doorstep at random, upon her return from her lunch date with Gokudera, without warning. This is not at all the first time he's hit his flower-dealer up for The Goods with a great urgency, but it's the first time that he's been this fast about it, and the most deliberate about the personal poetic symbolism behind which flowers they selected together for this arrangement. Aerith knows her stuff. He has a sneaking suspicion that Aurora may also be fluent in the symbolic language of flowers, which he himself absolutely is not, so he took a special sense of thoughtfulness with this gesture.

Attached to the flower arrangement, she will find an envelope artfully addressed to her, and while her name is written in a language that must be foreign to her sensibilities and limited exposure back home, by the linguistic magic of Avalon, the calligraphy will still be clearly understood as her name written in these strange, painterly characters... Art cannot quite be directly translated, after all, can it? It must be seen and appreciated as it is. Likewise, there's a clean stamp in the corner marking the sender, that's also magically clearly read as: "Zuko."



Inside the envelope, she'll find an even more elegant painting, again loaded with poetic symbolism that Zuko put a great deal of careful thought and effort into and will likely never explain... But at the very least it's quite pretty — and once again, has his legible stamp as a signature, should she want to save it for sentimental value... Which is exactly what he hopes she'll want to do.



He's been a shy and awkward boy all this time, but desperation fills him with a ferocious vim and vigor no matter what the context is in his life. That's one reliable truth about Zuko. For better or worse.

What's more... who knew Zuko could paint?! He never told her that! The boy is full of surprises. ]

[Aurora literally could not have had a worse lunch with Gokudera short of Maleficent herself showing up in the middle of it.

Actually, no, Aurora would have welcomed falling to the sleeping curse again. It would have spared her the embarrassment and pain and the not-quite-rejection-but-certainly-not-welcoming-of-her-advancements catastrophe that was her lunch with Gokudera.

She was going to go back to living in the woods, alone, without talking to anyone. Jane would understand.

She feels heartsick and all she wants to do is cry in her room and never see humanity for another 16 years. When she's 32 maybe she'll finally get it right and find someone interested in her and who would return her advances.

When she comes home, she very nearly disregards the flower and the envelope entirely, thinking it's for Jane or some gift from a sprite or fae. But when she properly looks at the intricate characters on the envelope, she eventually sees it's addressed to HER.

Oh... oh no.

She crouches down and picks up the amaryllis flower arrangement. Fortunately for Zuko, she IS well versed in the language of flowers. The amaryllis, the living symbol of love, determination, and ethereal beauty. She idly caresses a petal and opens up the artwork. And it is beautiful. A crane, she believes, or perhaps a herring or stork. She did not know what it meant, the painting, though, yet again, Zuko was showing off yet another talent.

She looked between the two and her eyes widened.

Oh...

Oh no.

Did Zuko like her?

This should be something that should have filled her with glee, with gayity! How could it not! This had been what she wanted, for Zuko to realize her affections for him.

But...

But Gokudera ALSO loved Zuko.

And while SHE saw no issue with the three of them being together, Gokudera wasn't ready! How could she insist she be with Zuko while Gokudera worked through his issues? What sort of flighty person did that present her as to confess to one man only to turn around and be courted by another?

She brought the flower and painting inside and set it aside, bone-weary all of a sudden.

She... she was going to go to her room and cry.

She'd deal with all of this after that.

[One of these days, she's going to remind Zuko that she has a job and does, in fact, not always have the leisure to drop things in a matter of moments and has to pay for the home she's living in. But, that is a conversation for another day, not now, not when Zuko outright states something is wrong.]

[Gokudera is walking home, cheeks flushed (though it looks like it may be from the cold. That’s a good excuse), and he’s leaving a message on her device, since it’s a bit late. He hopes she isn’t asleep, but this is good news, so maybe she can start or end her next day on a good note?]

Rose. I worked things out with Zuko… I think we’ve been courting each other and didn’t know. But I know now.

[He sounds a bit out of breath, looks far more at ease than usual.]

We all need to get together to discuss this… courtship triangle…

[He’s wearing the vest she picked out for him, and the shirt beneath it is no longer tucked in. The buttons aren’t even all done, from what she may be able to see from his hurried pace. His jacket is open, and he seems excited.]

I am incredibly glad to hear that, and I had my suspicions on the matter. [It's why she thought SHE was the one invading their space.] Formal titles have their uses.

[ She'll receive a video message probably, uh, well before she'd like to receive a video message. The sun is scarcely even up yet! But Zuko is, always up before the sun. But unlike most days, he's wearing a bright, genuine smile for her, one that reaches his eyes in its warmth and fondness. A real rarity. ]

[When Aurora does finally awaken, it's to a pleasant surprise of a message. She smiles at the way he's smiling back and so she calls him back, a few hours later in the morning. She's positively beaming.]

[Gokudera will be sending Aurora a message through his device, but wants his present for her dropped off first. He isn’t the one to deliver it, but Rose may find a familiar young leopard waiting for her to get home from her visit to Zuko’s. It’s guarding a parcel up in a tree, and hops down easily when it notices her approach.

Sure, Uri has a task to drop off the present, but is just so thrilled to be outside and trusted with something as important as relaying birthday wishes. Uri rumbles, chuffs, rolls about, and rubs against Aurora, leaving the package for now. Inside will be a wrapped hoodie in good condition, a light blue, and it seems to be one Gokudera has worn before. It will smell vaguely of him, warm but spice and smoke but it’s also been washed, dried, and embroidered with golden yellow roses on the arms.

There is a handwritten note that says:

Happy Birthday!

Call me when you get this!
